The per capita disposable income of Suzhou residents in 2022 reached 70,819 yuan, exceeding 70,000 yuan for the first time, according to the official data released recently by the NBS survey team in Suzhou. Last year, faced with a complicated external environment and the multiple impacts of the COVID-19 epidemic, Suzhou implemented a slew of policies to shore up economic growth and ensure people’s livelihood.
NBS data showed that in 2022, Suzhou residents saw their per capita disposable income reach 70,819 yuan. It was the only city divided into districts in the province that exceeded the 70,000 yuan threshold, retaining its fifth place among key cities in the country. The per capita disposable income of residents in Suzhou was 33,936 yuan higher than the national average (36,883 yuan), and 20,957 yuan higher than the provincial average (49,862 yuan).
The per capita disposable income of Suzhou residents increased by 3.9% year-on-year in 2022, which was lower than that of the previous year, but higher than that of Shanghai, Beijing, Shenzhen and Guangzhou, the top 4 cities in terms of total income.
Statistics show that in 2022, the per capita disposable income of Suzhou’s urban residents increased by 3.4% to 79,537 yuan while that of rural residents grew by 5.5% to 43,785 yuan. The per capita disposable income gap between urban and rural residents continued to narrow, with the ratio standing at 1.82:1 in 2022, an improvement from 1.851:1 in 2021.
